Erik ten Hag has shared his post-match verdict after Manchester United suffered their second straight Champions League defeat to Galatasaray.
The Red Devils now sit rock bottom of Group A on zero points prior to their third group-stage game against Copenhagen on October 24, which really cannot be anything less than a win.
Dropping down to the Europa League would not only be unbelievably humiliating, but simply unacceptable.
Tuesday’s result comes after United oversaw their worst start to a campaign in 34 years by registering four Premier League losses in their first seven fixtures, so it’s safe to say that rival eyes are all on Old Trafford yet again waiting for another mess-up.
Ten Hag reacts
Ten Hag had his say after facing the Turkish side and told TNT Sports: “We were twice up and we are controlling the game, and then yeah, some errors – some fundamental errors we make. Normally, [we] wouldn’t have in a game and you can’t allow them at this level, you get punished for it.
“This is difficult to control but we are all together, we are in this, and it’s not only one making such an error, it’s as a team we make such errors. So you don’t win the game. It was totally unnecessary because we were twice up so you are in control of the game, then you don’t expect this outcome.”
“We expect more together,” he continued. “The players are with me. All [of us] expect more.”
Regarding Rasmus Hojlund’s performance, which included his first brace for United, the manager added: “He played a very good game. He was a threat all the way through, scored two great goals so we are happy with that. But of course, we don’t win the game and also you see Rasmus is very disappointed – but he can be really happy with his goals.”

I’m indeed heartbroken. Manchester United is paying the price for letting De Gea go in such a disgraceful manner. Here was a man who was adjudged the best goalkeeper last season, thrown into the labour market for no good reasons other than not being too good with his feet.
United replaced De Gea with another goalkeeper thought to be a good ball distributor and who is now giving assists to his opponents. Nemesis has indeed caught up with the club. Ten Hag and Onana have caused Man United fans great pains this season. The club should consider bringing De Gea back in January.
