Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has admitted that he “feels sorry” for striker Rasmus Hojlund due to the lack of service he is getting.
Erik ten Hag’s primary summer target was England captain was Harry Kane, but Glazernomics meant United had to go a different route in the transfer market.
The Reds switched their attention to Hojlund. He joined the club from Serie A outfit Atalanta in August but missed a number of games with a back injury.
United needed a goalscorer to shift some of the responsibility from Marcus Rashford. While Hojlund needs time to further his development as well as prove himself, the 20-year-old scored a brace in last night’s 3-2 defeat to Galatasaray.
Hojlund now has 3 goals in two Champions League appearances for United.
However, Ferdinand has his say ahead of the game last night and admitted some of the concerns he has for Hojlund.
“He has to play his position better!”

Ferdinand told TNT Sports: “I do feel sorry for him in a way because there’s never really been a player to come in at this age and have all the pressure of being the one that needs to score, to be the finished article.
“Wayne Rooney had Ruud van Nistelrooy alongside him to help guide him, and no one really expected that of him.
“He’s going straight into the squad as a massive-money signing, with all that pressure, but that’s what happens as a Man United player. You have to deal with pressure.”
