Rasmus Hojlund has reacted to Manchester United’s 3-2 defeat to Galatasaray.
The 20-year-old is the only player in the dressing room tonight who can hold his head up high after the game, as his performance was the best we’ve seen of him in a red shirt.
You’d wonder how the scoreline would’ve looked without Hojlund’s two contributions. His constant threat and runs proved very troubling for the away side’s defence.
However, he won’t be able to properly celebrate the night of his first United brace after Mauro Icardi’s 81st-minute winner marked the Reds’ second defeat in the Champions League group stage, leaving them rock bottom of Group A on zero points.
It’s also the club’s sixth loss this season, and warning signs are continuously being flagged with every passing game.
Hojlund reacts
Post-match, the young Dane spoke to MUTV to give his verdict on his showing and that of the team as a whole.
He said: “I feel happy and not happy at the same time. Of course, it’s not about the individual performance, it’s about getting the three points and yeah, at the moment we are not doing good enough.
“We need to remember we can’t [concede] goals right after we score. We [have] had a few games now where they just score after we scored. So we want to go back and analyse that tomorrow and talk about it in the group. And of course, it’s a tough period now, but we need to stick together and that’s the only way we can get out of this period.”
Regarding his goals, Hojlund added: “It’s about getting in there, for me. I always try to get into the dangerous positions. I’ve been bought to be scoring goals and now I was happy that I got two more down today. But again if we talk about Marcus [Rashford]. He [now] knows that I can keep up with his pace when we go on the counter, and we saw a glimpse of that today.
“Yeah, it was a good feeling [scoring at the Stretford End]. It was an incredible goal. I like to call that a signature Rasmus goal, you know, on the left side running a lot.”
