(Video) Eriksen admits dressing room was ‘very quiet’ after Manchester United were humiliated by Galatasaray

Christian Eriksen has reacted to Manchester United’s woeful loss in the Champions League this evening.

It’s back-to-back defeats in Europe for the Red Devils, who now sit rock bottom of Group A on zero points after their opening two group-stage games.

The loss also marks United’s sixth this season after 10 matches played – their worst start to a term in 34 years.

Eriksen entered the fold at half-time in Hannibal Mejbri’s place but – like his teammates – failed to conjure up enough creativity to see out a win.

Post-match, he spoke to TNT Sports to give his verdict on the night.

“It’s sad. I think it’s a big disappointment – it was very quiet in the dressing room,” Eriksen admitted. “We had some good spells in the game but in the end, when we go ahead and score a goal, shortly after we concede. Of course, that makes it very difficult for us to stay in the game and that’s something that we have to change, and has to change very quick.

“No, I don’t think it’s [a lack of] confidence, I think it’s more the awareness or the sharpness. To come [go] ahead twice, you shouldn’t throw that away and we’ve even done that in some other games this season. I don’t think it’s confidence, I think it’s more the sharpness and the wrong decisions at the wrong times, and a bit of the ‘not lucky’ part is following us around at the moment.”

“A lot [of work needs to be done]. But again it’s details, I mean today, the chances they have are from our mistakes. If we don’t make the mistakes, we don’t concede as we do.”

When asked if it was a ‘long way back’ in the competition, Eriksen replied: “Luckily, it’s only the start. We’ve only played two games and we know there’s still a lot of games to play and catch up, we know we need to win every game to have an opportunity to go through and that’s our aim.”

Rasmus Hojlund was the only positive on the night; he netted a brace and oversaw a sensational performance, undoubtedly his best since signing for the club.
