Manchester United are back in Premier League action and will be hoping to record back-to-back victories in the league following last weekend’s 1-0 win over Burnley.

Erik ten Hag’s men followed that up with a comfortable 3-0 win over Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup, with the Eagles making the trip to Old Trafford again four days later.

Ten Hag named a strong side to face Roy Hodgson’s side in the cup and only a few selected changes are made, with Sofyan Amrabat continuing to plug the left-back shaped hole in the side after injuries to Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malcia and Sergio Reguilon.

Amrabat impressed in his maiden United appearance and now, speaking ahead of the game, the Morocco international has been backed to shine again by team-mate Victor Lindelof.

“It’s always great for momentum to win games and hopefully we can perform well today as well,” Lindelof told Sky Sports, via the official Manchester Unite website.

“Everyone knows Amrabat’s qualities. He had a great debut so hopefully he can keep contributing to the team.

“Palace are going to come here and give their absolute best and it’s going to be a very tough game. We won against them in the cup so of course they want to get a better result. But we’re all up for it and want to perform well to get the three points.”

Diogo Dalot would be the prime pick to fill in at left-back but an injury to Aaron Wan-Bissaka meant that the Portuguese international must play on the right instead, leaving Ten Hag short of options on the opposite flank.

Amrabat’s long-term future at the club will be in midfield but he has already shown that he is capable of playing in a number of positions – one of the reasons why Ten Hag was so keen on bringing him in.
