Match report: United sustain fourth league loss of the season after unspirited showing vs Palace

Manchester United have lost their fourth Premier League game of the campaign after losing 1-0 to Crystal Palace this afternoon.

The Reds’ dominance at Old Trafford has all but gone, as has their desire to put in a fight for three points.

United controlled the game throughout, as they did on Tuesday, but lacked the same creativity or clinical edge that they displayed midweek.

Joachim Anderson netted a 25th-minute volley from Eberechi Eze’s free-kick, which came from a pretty needless foul by Sofyan Amrabat. Andre Onana had no chance of saving the strike.

Sustained pressure and attacks followed for United, with Palace only registering one more shot on target after the goal. Protests for a spot-kick over handball claims were quickly waved off by Chris Kavanagh late in the second-half – much to the players’ and supporters’ dismay.

Roy Hodgson’s game plan may have failed miserably the first time around but he certainly had his squad set up how he wanted them today. Just 22 per cent of possession by the full-time whistle but all three points to take back home with them.
