Erik ten Hag says Crystal Palace’s midweek defeat at Old Trafford will fuel them for Premier League clash

Erik ten Hag believes that Crystal Palace will be looking to avenge their midweek Carabao Cup defeat at Old Trafford when they return to the stadium today for a Premier League clash.

Manchester United welcome the Eagles again in the second instalment of this week’s double-header and this time, three points are up for grabs.

The Reds oversaw a dominant performance from start to finish on Tuesday evening, playing their opponents off the pitch despite the heavily rotated team deployed by Ten Hag, who will be demanding a similar showing today from his squad.

He’ll likely make numerous changes to the starting line-up, with Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes expected to return, but you’d expect a replicate outcome – a convincing win and clean sheet on home turf.

That also depends on Palace’s approach to the game and whether they’ll be as comfortable sitting back and letting United control the possession.

Ten Hag expects more fight from Eagles

Ten Hag expects a more spirited showing from the travelling side, telling MUTV: “When you get beaten, you will then take your revenge and that will give fuel to your squad, and you will demand. We can’t expect anything else.”
