Manchester United to open contract talks with young midfielder amid La Liga side’s interest

Manchester United are planning to open new contract talks with Hannibal Mejbri, as per Fabrizio Romano.

The Tunisian’s current deal is set to expire in June 2024, though the Red Devils do have the option of triggering a one-year extension until 2025.

Hannibal’s priority right now is his game time and performances, so he’s looking to entertain the discussions towards the end of the year.

Sevilla were targeting him in July before he opted to stay at Old Trafford for the current season. The La Liga club remain interested and are monitoring his form in case they decide to reignite their pursuit.

Hannibal’s superb form

The 20-year-old’s recent displays have certainly caught the eye of viewers, and Erik ten Hag will be delighted with Hannibal’s seamless transition into the senior squad this term.

He netted his debut goal against Brighton and Hove Albion earlier this month and was then awarded his first-ever Premier League start against Burnley, a game in which he broke two Premier League records for his relentless pressing.
