Hannibal Mejbri set for new contract talks at Manchester United

It sounds like Erik ten Hag is wasting no time signing Hannibal Mejbri up to a new season, if recent reports are to be believed.

Manchester United are reportedly in talks with Hannibal Mejbri over a new contract, as per 90Min.

The Tunisia international’s contract at Manchester United runs until next summer, but the club has an option to extend that by a further 12 months.

That means United have time on their side and don’t need to rush into anything, but it would make sense to get talks underway if Erik ten Hag believes Hannibal Mejbri will be part of his plans for the future.

The 20-year-old has made just one appearance this season, scoring after he came off the bench last weekend against Brighton.

It was a fantastic goal – his first for the club as an academy graduate – but, unfortunately, it will be forgotten by the masses because of the manner in which United lost 3-1 on the day.

90Min claim Ten Hag is a big fan of Hannibal and I think we will see him start against Crystal Palace in next week’s Carabao Cup clash.

The midfielder has a bit of bite about him and likes to operate in the final third. Can he take Scott McTominay’s place in the pecking order after the Scotland continued to disappoint against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night?

At least Hannibal will come in and show a bit of effort and we have needed that alongside Casemiro.
