Andre Onana specifically requested that he be the one to speak to the media following Manchester United’s 4-3 loss to Bayern Munich.
The goalkeeper did make an early mistake when Leroy Sane’s strike bundled under him to open the scoring for the home side. Just four minutes later, they doubled their lead.
Bayern eventually overturned the Red Devils with four goals to three, marking a third consecutive loss for Erik ten Hag’s side.
Onana took full responsibility for his errors when coming out for the post-match interview, saying: “It’s difficult. I think in the beginning we were good but after my mistake, we lost control of the game… I am the one who let the team down.
“My start in Manchester is not so good. Today is one of my worst games. It was a big opportunity for us to bounce back from the pressure we’re facing, but it’s tough. We have to be together.”
"I'm the one who let the team down."
"It's because of me we didn't win this game."
"I have to learn from it."
