Fenerbahce made late move for Manchester United midfielder

Scott McTominay found himself back in the Manchester United line-up this weekend for the 3-1 defeat to Brighton.

The Scotland international was subject to transfer interest from West Ham in the summer, but ultimately remained at the club even though he had been overlooked by Erik ten Hag in previous matches.

According to a report from Takvim, as cited by Sport Witness, Turkish giants Fenerbahce made a late attempt to sign McTominay.

The transfer window in Turkey closed on Friday, which was two weeks later than the window for English clubs and the rest of Europe.

Given Ten Hag’s injury problems in midfield, I can see why McTominay didn’t leave in the summer and we didn’t get Sofyan Amrabat through the door – on loan – until deadline day.

After shining for Scotland in recent internationals, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the midfielder linked with more Premier League clubs as we get closer to the January transfer window.

Let us know in the comments section if you think McTominay should have been sold in the summer.
