La Liga giants Barcelona and Newcastle United are believed to be ‘monitoring’ Jadon Sancho’s situation at Old Trafford, amid reports the winger faces an uncertain future.
According to Spanish publication Sport, Barcelona are mulling over the prospect of signing the England international on loan in January.
Sancho has been told to train on his own at Carrington following a public spat with manager Erik ten Hag. As a result, the winger was left out of the squad that lost 3-1 to Brighton on Saturday.
If Sancho is available to sign for a club on loan in January, we can expect there to be lots of interest in his signature even if things haven’t gone to plan for him at Old Trafford.
In a column for Mail Online, journalist Craig Hope discussed a potential move to Newcastle for Sancho: “I had this conversation with a colleague just this week…Hmm. Newcastle’s model is signing players on the way up. Players they can identify as value and then develop.
“Sancho, with wages likely to break Newcastle’s structure, would seem unlikely in that regard. But would the player benefit from a coach such as Howe? Absolutely. Is it a project Newcastle will be considering? He will certainly be on their radar. Let’s see.”
Newcastle are having a slow start to the season and are expected to strengthen Eddie Howe’s squad in January.
The Magpies beat Brentford 1-0 on Saturday.
