United fans learn new timeframe for midfielder’s return to action as he awaits first outing this season

Manchester United fans are eagerly awaiting Kobbie Mainoo’s first outing of the new campaign after numerous impressive showings in pre-season.

The youngster was included in the Red Devils’ pre-season tour squad, with reports suggesting that Erik ten Hag was ready to give Mainoo a more significant role in the first-team this term.

However, an injury against Real Madrid in the United States meant that Mainoo’s involvement was delayed – much to supporters’ dismay.

Mainoo still sidelined

After it was confirmed by the club that he would miss the beginning of the campaign, the Daily Mail has now added that Mainoo is still working his way up to match fitness following the international break, so is currently ruled out as it stands.

The 18-year-old is the latest prospect to emerge from Carrington with glowing reviews and high expectations. Given Alejandro Garnacho’s recent breakthrough and quick development, Mainoo could soon see himself granted regular game time across all four competitions.
