Anthony Martial must be eager to impress Erik ten Hag all of a sudden since he turned up for Manchester United training three hours early yesterday – before dashing back out after realising he’d be waiting a while.
According to The Mirror, Martial drove through the gates of the club’s Carrington training base at 8.56am, only to drive straight back out five minutes later.
We can only assume that was when he learned from his blunder, but we can guarantee you his teammates will enjoy it.
It is understood Erik ten Hag had switched training to the afternoon, but Martial clearly misread the timings as he turned up prepared for a morning session.
The report states Martial later returned for training before midday, along with the rest of the squad except Jadon Sancho, who has been told to train on his own.
Of course, it would make sense for Martial to put the extra mile in since United now have another striker following the arrival of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta.
After a horrible period of covering negative stories around our club, I did enjoy having a smirk at Martial being an eager beaver. Hopefully it won’t be long before he is back on the scoresheet.
