INEOS, Raine Group and Glazers in Manchester United takeover talks

It has been almost 10 months since the Glazer family first considered a sale of Manchester United, which led to a two-horse race consisting of INEOS’ Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani.

And, as we’ve known throughout the takeover process, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are each prepared to play the long game.

After all, the Glazers are the ones selling an asset that is going for multi-billions and something they’ve unfortunately held for 18-years.

According to The Guardian, those acting for Ratcliffe are more confident that the Glazers are intent on selling the club. Meanwhile, the report states Sheikh Jassim’s representatives are now unsure if the American family still wishes to let go of the club.

Only time will tell which party is reading the situation correctly, but they can’t both be right.

Many expected Qatar to blow INEOS out of the water with their bid, but that no longer seems to be the case as club insider Phil Brown alluded to on Twitter this evening. However, he suggests the Glazers are trying to convince INEOS to not just let them stay but to have voting rights on the board. Phil adds that INEOS have talked about walking away if they insist on this, so it’s clearly a non-runner, but we can see a positive in that there is process taking place in the takeover talks.

It is becoming more clear that there has been talks beens between INEOS, Raine and the Glazer family in recent weeks. That may lead to Qatar being left out of the loop and they’ll want answers soon if this information is being briefed.

How patient will Qatar be if INEOS gain more confidence?

    1. Mad given where we are now, after 18 years of carnage under the Glazers and you think Sir Jim Ratcliffe instantly means we’re going to become a bottom half table club FOREVER. Grow up, Pat.

      1. U don’t av sense at all.. does Ratcliff looks like one whom has the finance to run a new stadium and training facilities. Talk more of buying good players for man utd. U don’t think. U can hate the Arabs, but u can’t hate their money. Grow up. City shud be a testimony to u. Goat.

  2. I have said many times the Glazers aren’t going to sell. They are looking for at least 10 Billions.
All United fans should boycott the store and match day. Make them lose as much as possible even if it means relegation to get rid of them.

  3. Kindly Glazers go away and leave the club peacefully. You have really hurt Man utd fans for a while and the club facilities miserable compare to our enemies.stop demanding more money.those bids are enough please.Do not drag our club behind.
