Manchester United to open long-term contract talks with 21-year-old winger

Manchester United are preparing to open talks with Facundo Pellistri regarding a contract extension, as per Fabrizio Romano

The 21-year-old’s future has already been discussed in April and across the summer, with the Red Devils keen to tie him down to a long-term deal at Old Trafford. Pellistri’s current contract is set to expire in 2025.

He has been granted 18 minutes worth of Premier League action in United’s opening four games of the campaign, being an unused substitute for the matches against Nottingham Forest and Arsenal.

Pellistri set for increased game time

However, Pellistri could be in line to receive significantly more game time amid Antony and Jadon Sancho’s uncertain situations; the Brazilian is overseeing a period of absence while he addresses allegations of abuse and assault, while the latter has locked horns with Erik ten Hag in a public feud, which is yet to be resolved.

Despite seeing so little of Pellistri in action, United supporters have high hopes for the young winger. He plays with no fear on the ball and is keen to take on his man one-on-one. He’s also incredibly pacey and skilful, similar to fellow Carrington graduate Alejandro Garnacho.
