Jadon Sancho has finally deleted his bombshell social media statement in which he questioned Erik ten Hag’s post-match comments following the 3-1 defeat prior to the international break.

An unwanted spat between Sancho and Ten Hag became a media storm during the season’s first international break, and England manager Gareth Southgate was asked to comment on it, despite not selecting Sancho for the best part of two years.

Sancho now finds himself in another unfavourable situation at United, after being dropped from the squad to face Arsenal and then hitting out at the manager.

The England international took to Twitter and claimed that Ten Hag’s explanation had been “completely untrue”, which inevitably put his United future into question.

According to The Guardian, talks are ongoing regarding this, but Sancho’s decision to remove the statement from social media is being viewed as a positive move by the club.

The statement had been pinned on Sancho’s accounts, but it has now been deleted. By doing this, it has at least made his status in the squad attainable at the very least, so it should be seen as a positive development regarding his future at the club, however long it lasts.

Ten Hag will be asked about the Sancho situation for the first time since he issued the statement on Friday when he meets the press before United welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Old Trafford. When he explained Sancho’s absence from the squad against Arsenal, the Dutchman said (as per the Manchester Evening News:

“Jadon was [not picked] on his performance [levels] in the training. We didn’t select him. You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United, and we can make choices on the frontline, so for this game he wasn’t selected.”

Sancho has featured for 76 minutes this season — against Wolves, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest — but he has yet to register a goal or assist. I would say it’s fair to suggest he has not been reaching the required standards.

The full statement from Sancho read: “Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that [are] completely untrue. I have conducted myself in training very well this week. I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I have been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair!”

A classic sign of violin but hopefully this is a bridge we can all get over soon because there’s enough negativity surrounding the club.
