Sir Jim Ratcliffe admits failure in Manchester United takeover would be excruciating

It seemed like Manchester United were put up for sale last November, however, the Glazers are still contemplating offers from Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim Al-Thani.

The Glazers announced last year that they were ‘exploring strategic opportunities’, which we hoped include selling it, but they’ve yet to confirm that they will be walking away from the football club.

Manchester United fans are rightly impatient over the matter, after watching the club become a commercial cash cow for the Glazers 18-years ago.

INEOS founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe has admitted failure in his bid to takeover Manchester United is not an option for him as he awaits news on the sale from The Raine Group and the Glazers.

In an interview with INEOS.TV, Ratcliffe addressed the sale, saying: “The Manchester United bid would have been unthinkable two or three years ago if we hadn’t had some of experiences — some quite difficult experiences with Lausanne and Nice.

“You can’t really contemplate acquiring a brand like Manchester United and failing because the failure is just far too public and excruciating in a deal like that.”

It is believed Ratcliffe’s offer is for approximately 60% of United, while Sheikh Jassim of Qatar is reportedly pushing for a 100% buyout.
