Report dismisses claims Manchester United takeover has been shelved

We have already heard Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s biggest fear of losing out on the Manchester United takeover is public setback.

It is believed Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim Bin Al-Thani are the two leading bidders to takeover Manchester United, but recent reports suggested that the Glazers could shelve plans to sell the club.

Ratcliffe’s latest interview with INEOS.TV saw him reaffirm his determination to buy United, while The Telegraph claims sources close to the Glazer family have denied claims the process has been stalled.

INEOS’ co-founder, Ratcliffe, said: “You can’t really contemplate acquiring a brand like Manchester United and failing because the failure is just far too public and too excruciating.”

With NDAs signed, Ratcliffe could not go into too much detail about dealing with The Raine Group or the Glazers.

However, it has been nine months since the Glazers announced their “strategic review”, with the club being sold touted from all corners early on.

After 18 long years of Glazer ownership, seeing the fanbase become more disconnected in multiple ways, I think I can safely say we all hope the end is near.

“The Manchester United bid would have been unthinkable two or three years ago if we hadn’t had some of the experiences, and quite a few of them difficult experiences with Lausanne and Nice,” Ratcliffe added.

Everything the Glazers touch turns toxic.
