Manchester United star withdraws from international duty with injury

Sofyan Amrabat has withdrawn from international duty with Morocco due to injury.

The midfielder was due to represent his nation in their final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Liberia before facing Burkina Faso in a friendly. Thankfully, the Atlas Lions have already secured their spot in the tournament.

For United though, it’s just an added concern among the heap right now. Injury-wise, Amrabat will join Mason Mount, Luke Shaw Raphael Varane, Tyrell Malacia, Tom Heaton, Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo on the sidelines.

Amrabat to return to Carrington

The club confirmed this morning that the 27-year-old is on his way back to Carrington to continue working to full fitness, with details of his setback unconfirmed.

This is expected to push back his debut as a Red; fans had anticipated that his maiden outing would come against Brighton and Hove Albion when club action returns next weekend, but Amrabat may be made to wait a while longer.
