Wayne Rooney tipped for Birmingham City job as Rangers consider John Eustace

Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has emerged as a leading contender for the manager’s job at Birmingham City, should John Eustace leave St Andrews.

Everything is going to plan at Birmingham City as they remain unbeaten in the Championship.

As a result, Birmingham City boss Eustace is being touted as a candidate for the Rangers job.

It is believed Michael Beale’s position at Ibrox is under serious threat after a worrying start to the season.

However, this could turn out to be good news for United’s all-time record goalscorer.

According to The Mirror, Wayne Rooney will be top of Birmingham City’s list if Eustace leaves for Rangers.

Rooney is currently in charge of MLS outfit DC United and we’ve always felt it was a matter of time before he returns to England where he previously managed Derby County.

It sounds like Birmingham’s new chief executive Garry Cook, formerly of Man City, is looking to make a statement appointment if they lose Eustace in the near future.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Rooney accepted the offer because Birmingham sound like a club willing to back their manager in the transfer market, after signing 13 players during the summer.
