Roy Keane criticises Manchester United star after underwhelming display against Arsenal

Roy Keane was left unimpressed with Anthony Martial in Manchester United’s 3-1 loss to Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.

For a second consecutive game, Martial struggled to make an impact on the game. He got 67 minutes on the pitch before he was replaced by Anthony Martial.

Some people may excuse Martial’s form because he missed pre-season due to injury, but what good is it if he’s always injured? Then whenever he plays, the Frenchman is miles behind everyone else.

Against Arsenal, Martial managed 19 touches on the ball and one shot on target.

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane was critical of Martial’s display.

“You’re looking at Martial – the manager praised him. I don’t think he got a kick, he didn’t do much,” Keane said after the match, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

Keane added: “I think the manager will be pleased with the performance but you’ve got to look at the bigger picture. I still think there are massive problems at the club.

“You look at the defence at the end of the game. I know there were injuries but the lads coming on, Maguire — they’re to move Maguire on.

“Jonny Evans, I like Jonny, he’s a good lad, but he left Man United eight years ago because they didn’t think he was good enough – he’s coming on today. They’re really stretched with the injuries.

“There’s still problems for United. I think there was spirit and fight there today, I can’t really be too hard on them but in terms of the bigger picture and competing with Man City, I think they’re way off it.”

Hopefully we won’t need to start Martial for another while,..
