Senior United figure flies to Italy to continue Sofyan Amrabat talks – no agreement reached yet

Matt Hargreaves, Manchester United’s director of football negotiations, has flown over to Italy in a bid to sign Sofyan Amrabat, as per The Athletic.

The Red Devils are looking to acquire Amrabat to boost Erik ten Hag’s options in the middle of the park, with Mason Mount facing a spell on the sidelines.

The Athletic reported earlier this week that United were navigating a potential loan deal for the Moroccan international to comply with FFP regulations. They submitted a €2 million loan bid to Fiorentina on Wednesday but this was swiftly rebutted by the Serie A outfit.

Now, with around 12 hours of the transfer window remaining, the senior official has taken negotiations to the next level and will hold talks in person to try and get the deal over the line.

Amrabat has had his heart set on United throughout the summer and has even turned down interest from other clubs, as he was waiting on an official approach from the 20-time English champions.
