Mason Greenwood offered to Serie A club amid United’s hurried search to find him new suitor

Mason Greenwood has reportedly been offered to Lazio as Manchester United try to secure him a deadline-day deal.

The Red Devils are well aware that Greenwood must find a new suitor or they risk paying his £75,000-a-week wages for the another season.

Greenwood, 21, had charges of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm dropped in February 2023 after key witnesses withdrew their participation from the case.

United, along with the forward, made the decision last month that he should continue his career away from Old Trafford, though reports have claimed that Greenwood has been left ‘devastated’ by the outcome.

It came after the club received extreme social media backlash over leaked plans to reintegrate him into the squad this term. Supporters, politicians and domestic abuse charities all voiced their frustration and distaste at the decision, forcing United to perform a U-turn.

Now, United are looking to either sell or loan their Carrington graduate, and the Serie A outfit has been identified as a potential candidate.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed this morning (Friday) that the player had been offered to Lazio, who are managed by former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, and that no decision has been made yet.
