The Red Devils will be making the trip down to North London to face longtime rivals Arsenal in a highly-anticipated clash to round off the weekend’s Premier League action.
Both sides have the added factor of Champions League football to juggle this season, following a stint in the Europa League last term.
United last visited the Emirates in January 2023 in a drama-filled outing; the tightly-contested game was decided after an injury-time winner from Eddie Nketiah, with the clubs locked at 2-2 prior to the late goal.
United must navigate injury woes
Erik ten Hag’s squad has been plagued with injuries across the summer and he’s been dealt three significant blows since the season kicked off; Mason Mount, Luke Shaw and Raphael Varane are all sidelined for the forthcoming weeks, so the September international break will come as some much-needed respite to United.
Consequently, the manager was forced into changes last week and will be against the Gunners, too.
Onana,
Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Martinez, Dalot
Victor Lindelof will most likely be called upon in Varane’s absence, while Diogo Dalot was deployed out of his usual position and on the left flank to navigate Shaw’s injury last Saturday.
Casemiro, Eriksen
Sancho, Fernandes (C), Rashford
Jadon Sancho has looked promising when coming off the bench this term and again he’s started the campaign with a point to prove. Meanwhile, Antony’s form leaves a lot to be desired.
Martial
If he’s fit, he has to start. It’s clear that Marcus Rashford is less comfortable at No.9 and it’s time for Anthony Martial to contribute to the team after an unsatisfactory period as a Red.
Rasmus Hojlund will hopefully be named on the bench on Sunday. He was not spotted in this week’s training pictures but United have claimed that he has taken part in the sessions with the first-team, however, it’s unlikely that Ten Hag will throw him into the deep end and start him from the get-go.
