Mason Greenwood has joined Getafe on loan.

Earlier today it appeared that Serie A side Lazio were going to take Greenwood, but they ran out of time to make the deal happen.

There had also been reports of interest from Turkish side Galatasaray, who United have drawn in the Champions League group stages.

But then rumours circulated about talks with Getafe, who have finalised a deal to sign Greenwood on loan for the season.

Getafe confirmed the signing via Twitter:

Manchester United confirmed in August that they had reached the decision, along with the forward, that he should continue his career elsewhere.

According to James Ducker from The Telegraph, United will cover the majority of Greenwood’s £75,000-a-week wage package.

This came after the 21-year-old was accused of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

However, these charges were dropped in February 2023 after key witnesses withdrew their participation from the case.

United had planned for Greenwood to return, but this lead to a huge backlash from the media and supporters alike.
