Manchester United are working to complete a deal to sign Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Reguilon on loan.
The Reds have been on the lookout for a new left-back on loan since Luke Shaw’s injury, although yesterday it looked like Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella would be the solution.
However, it turns out Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to play Curcurella in last night’s Carabao Cup clash against AFC Wimbledon has backfired. The Spaniard could now be stuck at Stamford Bridge until January at the very least.
According to The Athletic, United have been granted permission for Tottenham’s Reguilon to travel and undergo a medical.
There is hope that Reguilon can be joined by Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat before Friday’s 11pm deadline.
Diogo Dalot started at left-back in United’s 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday. And, it remains to be seen if Reguilon will be registered in time for Sunday’s trip to Arsenal.
Reguilon has not played for Tottenham since returning for a loan at Atletico Madrid, where he made 12 appearances under Diego Simeone.
More on Reguilon when we have it.
