Charlie McNeill is set to join League One side Stevenage on a season-long loan.
The 19-year-old spent the second half of last season playing for Newport County in League Two, so at least this move means McNeill is stepping up a division in a bid to develop his game.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the young striker is on the verge of joining Stevenage on loan.
McNeill scored two goals in 20 League Two games for Newport last term, but that was his first real taste of first-team football.
Having initially left United’s academy in 2014, McNeill went to score over 600 goals for Man City before re-joining United in 2020.
The MEN claims the move will be confirmed by tomorrow’s 11pm deadline.
One way or other, we’ll be keeping a close eye on McNeill throughout the season. Ten Hag would like nothing more than another goalscorer from the academy.
