Raphael Varane will miss Manchester United’s trip to Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend due to injury.

The French centre-back came off at half-time in our 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday and the injury sustained is expected to keep him out for a few weeks.

Varane will consequently miss the game against Arsenal, which is followed by a short international break. That should give him time to recovery and rehabilitate from his latest knock.

Manchester United shared an update and Varane’s injury this morning and confirmed that he won’t be available on Sunday.

This comes after Sky Sports News suggested Varane could be out for six weeks, although BBC Sport reporter Simon Stone claims the defender will be back before the six-week mark.

Erik ten Hag is likely to select Victor Lindelof to partner Lisandro Martinez in defence, but it may also explain why United no longer want to lose Harry Maguire.

With the transfer window shutting on Friday, United would be in a race against time to sign a new centre-back if Maguire left.

United fans have every right to worry about Varane’s track record with injuries, but at least he can focus on United now after retiring from international football.

The injury list now consists of Varane, Rasmus Hojlund, Tyrell Malacia, Amad, Kobbie Mainoo, Tom Heaton, Mason Mount and Luke Shaw.
