Bayern Munich are interested in signing Scott McTominay but are likely to be priced out of a deal, as per The Times.
The Bundesliga giants had shortlisted McTominay as a potential signing to bolster Thomas Tuchel’s midfield options this season, with the manager deemed a fan of the Scot.
However, Manchester United had already rejected a £30 million bid for McTominay from West Ham United earlier in the window due to their valuation being in the region of £40-45m. The Irons never returned with an improved offer, and it’s unlikely Bayern will submit one.
United would rebuff McTominay interest
Erik ten Hag would also signal to the United board that now is too late in the transfer window to sanction the midfielder’s departure, especially following the injury concerns that the squad have been plagued with. With Mason Mount, Luke Shaw and Raphael Varane all recently being ruled out of action, it has only further confirmed the need for depth if the club wants to compete on all fronts.
McTominay, 26, isn’t going to be utilised as a frequent starter across the campaign but will be pivotal for the manager to call upon when needed.
