Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, as per Telegraph Sport.
The Red Devils are mulling over a move for the Danish international and could open talks in the coming days, as Erik ten Hag looks to bolster his squad with the addition of a midfielder by Friday’s transfer deadline.
Hojbjerg was expected to join La Liga giants Atletico Madrid earlier in the window in a £30 million deal, but the transfer collapsed after the two parties failed to reach an agreement on personal terms. He also rebuffed interest from Saudi Arabia despite being offered a £45m salary package.
Mason Mount, who joined in July and became United’s first signing of the summer, sustained an injury against Spurs last week and now faces a spell on the sidelines. Ten Hag already wanted added depth at his disposal, but the Englishman’s layoff has only furthered the need.
United’s interest in Hojbjerg
Whether or not United will submit an offer for Hojbjerg remains to be seen. The 28-year-old does not currently boast a starting role under Ange Postecoglou and has been limited to two off-the-bench cameos so far this season, with the manager opting to deploy a pairing of Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr.
