Fabrizio Romano is expecting movement in Manchester United and Liverpool’s pursuit of Ryan Gravenberch by Friday’s deadline.
The two clubs are actively scouring the market for a new midfielder to bolster their squads for another hectic campaign, in which they will both be looking to compete on all fronts.
Erik ten Hag acquired Mason Mount earlier in the window in a £55 million deal from Chelsea, but the Englishman has since sustained an injury and faces an extended spell on the sidelines. United have cover in the position, however, it’s evident that the manager desires added depth.
Gravenberch, 21, is adamant about leaving Bayern this summer in a bid to secure more frequent game time elsewhere. He was used sparingly in the 2022/2023 campaign and has been granted just one nine-minute cameo in the opening three matches of the term.
Romano on Gravenberch
Romano predicts one final twist in the tale in Gravenberch’s expected exit. He said on the Debrief transfer Q&A with CaughtOffside: “Keep an eye on Gravenberch for United and for Liverpool. The player is still waiting to understand what Bayern want to do with him so he could be a surprising name in the final days of the window.”
Reports suggest that the Bundesliga giants may even offer the Dutch international in a swap deal for Scott McTominay, with Thomas Tuchel a keen admirer of the Carrington graduate.
