Victor Lindelof excited to work with new signing

Andre Onana is one of three new signings made by Manchester United this summer, and it sounds like Victor Lindelof has enjoyed playing with the Cameroonian goalkeeper.

The former Ajax goalkeeper joined from Inter Milan in a £47 million switch this summer. Onana was one of Erik ten Hag’s primary targets – along with Mason Mount, who joined from Chelsea.

From his performances throughout pre-season to the beginning of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, fans can already see the different it makes having a keeper willing to play high up the pitch with top class distribution.

However, United have still endured a slow start to the new season, but Onana still looks like a good signing as Erik ten Hag continues his rebuild of the squad.

Another element of Onana’s game I enjoy is his bravery, but United’s first choice keeper was lucky not to give away a penalty in the 1-0 win over Wolves.

Onana will be aiming for his second clean sheet of the season when United welcome Nottingham Forest to Old Trafford on Saturday. If you agree with that, make sure to use the best betting bonuses before a ball is kicked as we fancy a comfortable win for the Reds.

Teammates impressed by Onana

Victor Lindelof was full of praise for Onana in an interview with Sky Sports News. The Sweden international talks about how well his new teammate has settled in.

“He’s settled in well, he speaks English and Spanish and French so it’s been quite easy for him to communicate with everyone.

“I’m really looking forward to working with him more as well. I’ve only been working with him for a couple of weeks now, but he seems like a great guy.

“He’s been very, very good in training, especially with his feet, his distribution is great so I said, looking forward to working with him.”

United to miss Onana during AFCON

The African Cup of Nations was postponed due to adverse summer weather concerns and it was agreed it would now take place between 13 January 2024 and 11 February.

Onana may have announced his retirement from international football prior to his switch to United, but reports now suggest he will return before the AFCON.

This is why United need to sign a new back-up goalkeeper because Tom Heaton doesn’t quite cut the mustard. And, it’s important we find a keeper of the same profile as Onana.
