Victor Lindelof excited about new signing; Rasmus Hojlund yet to train with first-team

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof is looking forward to playing with fellow Scandinavian, Rasmus Hojlund, but he has been made wait just like the rest of the squad.

Hojlund, 20, signed for United with a back injury that has kept him out of first-team action ever since.

Fans are eager to see the newest addition make his debut for the club, but Victor Lindelof has confirmed that Hojlund has yet to train with the first team. That is enough to suggest this weekend’s clash against Nottingham Forest will come too soon for the Denmark international.

Lindelof insists he feels the same way about what United can achieve with Hojlund up front.

“It’s been great,” Lindelof told ManUtd.com. “Ever since he signed, obviously he hasn’t been able to train with us yet, but, hopefully, he can score goals for us and help us win games.

“I’m looking forward to working with him and hopefully he can be back soon with the team.”

Some reports have hinted that Hojlund could make the match day squad to face Forest, but we can’t see Erik ten Hag risking that if he has yet to train with the full group. It’s also a terrible idea to rush back a player with a back injury.

This is Lindelof’s seventh season at United and it looks like he has jumped ahead of Harry Maguire in the pecking order. And, unlike the England international, the Swede would be a lot easier to sell in the current market.

He added: “Obviously, coming here, I had a goal to be important for the team and to play a lot of games and try to be successful at this club.

“Going into my seventh season now, I still have the same goal and the same objectives. I want to be successful and compete for trophies. That’s the thing I want.”
