Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw faces a spell on the sidelines.

The news came from The Athletic on the same day United announced that Brandon Williams would join Ipswich Town on loan.

It comes as a real blow because Erik ten Hag doesn’t have Tyrell Malacia due to an injury he received prior to pre-season. The Netherlands international has yet to return to training.

David Ornstein reports that Luke Shaw has suffered a muscular injury and is expected to be sidelined for an extended period.

Assessments are ongoing in hope the 28-year-old will miss weeks rather than months.

This likely means that Diogo Dalot will start at left-back against Nottingham Forest this weekend.

Some fans will argue that Alvaro Fernandez deserves a chance, but the young Spanish left-back has been linked with a move to Granada on loan.

We are just two weeks into the 2023/24 season and our injury list is beginning to pile up. Rasmus Hojlund hasn’t made his debut yet and Mason Mount is out for four to six weeks. They join an injury list consisting of Kobbie Mainoo, Amad and Tom Heaton.

  1. I’m sick and tired of the way we run transfers it just doesn’t make sense they talk about strength in depth but loan out Alvaro Fernandez so what happens if Dalot picks up an injury who’e his back up and most of our subs benches are a joke and very weak
