Erik ten Hag has insisted that Manchester United have prepared for injuries and won’t be pressured into buying replacements.
It was confirmed on Thursday evening that Luke Shaw had sustained a muscular injury and would be sidelined for an extended period, with new reports suggesting he may be out for as long as eight weeks.
Mason Mount is also ruled out of action after picking up an issue during last week’s trip to face Tottenham Hotspur, adding to a growing list of fitness concerns for the Red Devils.
However, the manager was calm about the situation when quizzed on the matter in today’s press conference. He assured that the club had already prepared for such setbacks, and they didn’t feel the need to panic-buy players.
Ten Hag plays down need for signings
He said (via Football Daily): “Definitely, we have the solutions in our squad to cope with that. We thought before the season about this scenario, what could happen, you hope to avoid this scenario – that’s also clear – but if it happens, you have to be ready for it. And we are ready to deal with it.”
