Manchester United yet to make decision on Hannibal Mejbri’s future

Manchester United have yet to decide whether to keep Hannibal Mejbri beyond the transfer window.

The 20-year-old should be in contention to make the match day squad against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, with Mason Mount ruled out for four to six weeks.

After a productive pre-season, I thought Mejbri would be in contention for game time regardless of injuries.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Mejbri’s future is dependent on whether other players depart from similar positions.

United want to sell Donny van de Beek but his apparent move to Real Sociedad appears to have collapsed in recent weeks.

Mejbri may have made only three appearances for United’s first team, but he’s got 41 international caps for Tunisia. With that in mind, I highly doubt he wants to spend most of the season on the bench.

Erik ten Hag is likely to start Christian Eriksen against Forest this weekend, but I think Ten Hag will look for something else when the Reds travel to Arsenal.

The report also states that there’s significant interest in Alvaro Fernandez, so we shouldn’t rule out a loan move for the young Spaniard.

  1. If Man U doesn’t have definite plans for this youngsters better ship them out so that they can get enough game time with teams that need their services & are willing to develop them pure & simple. Most of these guys are at a level where they should be getting regular competitive football at some level.Theres a stage where keeping them within the ranks stifles their dvpment. The likes of Hannibal, Fernandez, Amad Diallo, Pellistri etc are at that critical stage.
