Manchester United face Burnley in behind-closed-doors friendly

Manchester United take on Vincent Kompany’s Burnley side in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Carrington on Wednesday.

This follows on from last week’s behind-closed-doors friendly win over Everton as Erik ten Hag looks to prepare his team to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Ten Hag may use the friendly to give minutes to fringe players, or the likes of Anthony Martial as he looks to build match sharpness.

According to the Manchester Evening News, a number of youth players weren’t in the U21 squad that defeated Stockport County on Tuesday because of their expected involvement today against Burnley.

They include Hannibal Mejbri, Isak Hansen-Aaroen, Omari Forson and Marc Jurado.

That said, Jurado has been linked with a return to Spain before next week’s deadline.

There is also a suggestion that new signing Rasmus Hojlund could earn his first unofficial runout. We’ve heard there’s a chance he could be in the squad to face Nottingham Forest.

Other players in need of minutes include Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Donny van de Beek, Hannibal Mejbri and Dan Gore.
