Manchester United and Liverpool are ready to go head-to-head in pursuit of Bayern Munich wantaway Ryan Gravenberch.

The two rivals have reportedly submitted their respective contract offers to the 21-year-old, who is preparing to hold talks with manager Thomas Tuchel regarding his future at the Allianz Arena, as per The Mirror.

Gravenberch cost the Bundesliga giants £16.3 million in a move from Ajax last summer and should he be on the move again in the coming weeks, they’re hoping to recuperate a fee of around £22m.

He is adamant about acquiring more frequent game time elsewhere, having been utilised sparingly under each Bayern boss. The midfielder was also left on the bench for the German Super Cup final and the club’s season opener against Werder Bremen last Friday, showing that he’s likely in for a campaign of the same treatment.

Gravenberch could reunite with Ten Hag

One factor that may sway Gravenberch in United’s favour is that he would reunite with former coach Erik ten Hag, with whom he won three Eredivisie titles.

On the other hand, he is not guaranteed a starting role at Old Trafford and with the Euro 2024 tournament on the horizon, minutes on the pitch will be crucial for him to make the Netherlands squad.

Mirror’s report adds that a loan transfer is the likelier option at this stage in the window.
