Bruno Fernandes has voiced his frustrations over the officiating during Manchester United’s trip to face Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

The Reds were well within their right to feel hard done by the refereeing decisions, however, you can’t say it wasn’t expected given the Andre Onana incident last week.

Still, it’s frustrating that these calls are happening within the first two game weeks of the campaign. It certainly doesn’t fill any supporters with confidence for the season ahead.

United were denied a spot-kick in the first half for a handball shout against Cristian Romero, which came from Alejandro Garnacho’s strike.

VAR didn’t feel the need to intervene despite United’s pleas and for Fernandes, his protests continued post-match.

He spoke to the media following the game and drew comparisons to Monday’s notorious VAR call – one that has been the talk of the Premier League over the past week.

The captain said (via Manchester Evening News): “You will have to ask him [the referee why it was not given]. They have to start giving interviews after the games so they can explain themselves. It is a clear penalty, no excuses for not seeing, no excuses for VAR not seeing that.

“Last week they made a big thing on United not having a penalty against, I want to see what is going to happen this week, if there is going to be the same show they did last week. I want to see if Jon Moss also comes to apologise to our dressing room like they said they did to the manager of Wolves. I hope he is here and he can come.”
