Manchester United turned down the chance to sign Neymar this summer.

Neymar, 31, is believed to be desperate for a move away from Paris Saint-Germain – but he can forget about a switch to Old Trafford in the near future.

The Brazil star is on the verge of joining Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal.

However, it sounds like Neymar’s move to Saudi came after his entourage tipped him around Europe to a host of clubs.

According to The Independent, Manchester United were one of five clubs to turn down the chance to sign Neymar this summer. The others include Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Man City.

It is suggested that Neymar’s former club Barcelona were interested, but they wanted to re-sign the Brazil international on loan with an option to buy.

Neymar doesn’t fit into the profile of player that Erik ten Hag wants in his squad, so I don’t think any of our readers will be surprised to hear about the idea being pushed back.

Plus, I think we could all do without watching him diving every 5 minutes in a Red shirt.

The Independent claims most clubs saw him as a self-indulgent player who is no longer decisive a the top level. A fair reflection if you ask us!
