Erik ten Hag has made it no secret that he would like more signings before the transfer window shuts.
Manchester United have completed three signings this summer in Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.
The Reds are also in the process of selling players — such as Fred and Harry Maguire — which will free up more funds for the manager to invest in the squad.
A back-up keeper could come in to provide cover for Onana, with Tom Heaton and Dean Henderson both carrying injuries before the new campaign kicks-off tonight.
United are also being linked with an array of centre-backs, as well as Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
“Manchester always want more!,” Ten Hag told reporters, as per the Manchester Evening News. “I think every manager you ask wants more. But it is more about the mentality and in top football you have to demand the maximum. And because we also do that from our players and the fans expect it from us, so always you look for the perfect situation.
“But you also know you never get the perfect situation and you have to work for that, maybe not with the perfect situation, but to get the perfect results.”
Ten Hag was asked if he felt United sufficiently invested in his squad this summer and he replied: “The answer is yes.
“But what you see for one year ago, we did a benchmark where only give players [were sold] above £60 million. Now you see all over many clubs investing high rates and invest a lot in their squads, so the competition is very tough in the Premier League.
“But we are confident, we are happy with the squad we constructed now. Now it is about improving the squad and improving our way of playing.”
