Inter Milan are reportedly mulling over an approach for Anthony Martial, according to CaughtOffside.

Manchester United are open to shifting the forward if a bid they deem suitable arrives –  and it’s clear to see why; last season, Martial missed around 26 games through injury.

He was even ruled out of the club’s pre-season tour due to a hamstring issue that he sustained on the final matchday of the 2022/23 campaign – one that kept him out of the FA Cup final.

The Frenchman’s availability is simply too unreliable for any club looking to compete at the highest level and in all competitions. His ongoing fitness concerns led United into signing Wout Weghorst on loan in January and now, they have sought a long-term solution in the form of Rasmus Hojlund.

Erik ten Hag’s latest addition does leave Martial’s future in question; he would likely want to keep the 27-year-old around for squad depth, but has he actually warranted a place in the squad? Especially considering his wages, which are believed to be in the region of £13 million per year.

It’s that same factor that may prevent the Serie A giants from submitting a bid. They are unwilling to match his weekly earnings, so Martial may have to lower his demands if he wants regular game time.

Inter have reportedly requested to keep informed of his situation throughout the closing weeks of the window.
