David Moyes provides update on Harry Maguire transfer

West Ham manager David Moyes has confirmed that Manchester United have accepted a bid for Harry Maguire.

It was reported earlier this week that West Ham had a £30m deal agreed in principle with United for the England centre-back.

Now they must agree personal terms with Maguire, which could prove to be a stumbling block but only time will tell.

When asked for an update on the Maguire transfer, Moyes told reporters at his press conference (via Roshane Thomas): “We’ve had a bid accepted from Manchester United, but while he’s not our player I’m not in a position to discuss him.”

None of this stopped Erik ten Hag confirming at his press conference that Maguire would be available to face Wolves on Monday night. After being dropped to fifth-choice in United’s centre-back pecking order, it’s unlikely that he will feature against Gary O’Neil’s side.

Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane will start at centre-back. They are among the first names on the team sheet every week and Maguire was unable to change that last season.

Furthermore, I think Maguire will be a shrewd signing for West Ham. He will find his level again and we’ll start to see Maguire back at his best.
