Rasmus Hojlund is set to get the No. 17 shirt at Manchester United, the same number the Denmark international wore at his previous club Atalanta.
The 20-year-old completed his £72m transfer to Manchester United last week, however, fans must wait for the striker to recover from a back injury before he can make his debut.
United are hoping Hojlund will be fit to travel to Arsenal on September 3, when the Reds take on last season’s runners-up, a side that has strengthened over the summer.
When United submitted its provisional squad numbers for the 2023/24 season, it didn’t include Hojlund because the club has yet to confirm what number he will wear. According to Fabrizio Romano, a decision has been made and the Dane will wear No. 17.
In the same update, Romano adds that a medical examination has been booked for Fred to become a Fenerbahce player.

The No. 17 shirt was previously worn by Andy Cole, Henrik Larsson, Nani and Fred.
If Hojlund can score 17 goals in his first season, I’ll be happy with that so long as our other forwards pitch in and rack up an adequate tally for Erik ten Hag’s entire attacking department.
The sky is the limit at Old Trafford.
