Anthony Martial back in full training after recovering from latest injury set-back

Anthony Martial has returned to full training after recovering from his latest injury.

According to ManUtd.com, Martial is back in full training after his injury kept him out of our eight pre-season friendlies.

This meant Martial was unable to make an impression on Ten Hag during pre-season and it doesn’t help that he will be behind everyone else in the squad when it comes to match sharpness.

Martial couldn’t catch a break from injuries last season. It was so bad that Erik ten Hag knew he couldn’t rely on the French forward to lead the line into the new season, which promoted the successful pursuit of Rasmus Hojlund.

Throughout the 2022/23 campaign, Martial managed six goals and two assist from 21 appearances, as per Transfermarkt.

It is slightly ironic that United have replaced Martial, who remains at the club, with an injured striker.

Hojlund was working on the pitches at Carrington this morning, but he is on an individual programme as the club manages his recovery from a minor back injury sustained before he left Atalanta.

The Dane is expected to return for United’s trip to Arsenal on 3 September.

Ten Hag will attend his first press conference of the new season on Friday ahead of United’s opening game against Wolves.

The manager is likely to be asked who will lead the line against Wolves, who have made Gary O’Neil their new manager five days before the game.

Ten Hag could play Marcus Rashford in the centre joined by Alejandro Garnacho on the left, or the former on the left and Jadon Sancho in a false nine role.
