Manchester United’s latest recruit will reportedly take Fred’s number if the midfielder leaves this summer.

Rasmus Hojlund completed his move to the Red Devils with an unveiling on Saturday at Old Trafford in the side’s penultimate pre-season friendly.

An injury will keep him out of action for the opening weeks of the campaign, but fans are already eager to witness his first minutes as a Red after his £72 million switch.

Fabrizio Romano has hinted that the Dane will wear the No.17 – assuming it becomes vacant before the window closes. It’s currently occupied by Fred, who has been expected to leave United over the summer after a season in which his game time was significantly reduced.

Fred’s exit options

Fulham are interested in signing the Brazilian, according to Manchester Evening News, but are yet to table a bid. Meanwhile, Galatasaray held talks with United but did not submit an offer that the English club deemed acceptable.
