Manchester United are set to take on RC Lens at Old Trafford in their penultimate pre-season friendly on Saturday afternoon.
Hopeful of seeing a solid team performance against last season’s Ligue 1 runner-ups, Erik Ten Hag has named a strong starting 11 with the only notable admission being Anthony Martial; perhaps proof of the strikers’ uncertain future.
Scott McTominay is also missing from the matchday squad, but according to Samuel Luckhurst, the Scotland international has a slight knock.
Aside from Martial and McTominay missing out, Ten Hag has opted to go with arguably his strongest possible starting 11.
Marcus Rashford will lead the side’s line with Bruno Fernandes making his first captain’s appearance at home.
And in the build-up to today’s exciting friendly, which could see plenty of goals, Ten Hag took the time to credit the club’s ground staff, who have ensured Old Trafford looks in tip-top condition ahead of the new 2022-23 season.
“The grass looks better [at Old Trafford], better conditions than the USA,” the Dutchman told MUTV pre-kickoff.
