Amad set for Manchester United stay after knee injury

Amad Diallo’s injury has ruled out a potential loan move away from Manchester United.

The 21-year-old was among the absentees in Sunday’s 3-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund due to a knee injury which required further assessment.

Now, news has emerged which will come as a big blow for Amad and his plans to Erik ten Hag ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

According to The Athletic, tests have revealed that Amad will be out for the first part of the season and he is now fully expected to remain at United beyond the end of the transfer window.

The report adds Amad was attracting loan interest from clubs in Serie A prior to the injury he sustained against Arsenal on the pre-season tour of the US.

Amad went on tour following an impressive loan spell at Championship outfit Sunderland.

The Ivory Coast international helped Tony Mowbray’s side clinch a play-off spot, though the Black Cats were unsuccessful in their attempts to get back into the top flight.

On return to United, Amad would have planned to stake a claim for regular first-team minutes under Ten Hag. He will have to wait due to his injury but it doesn’t sound like he will be going anywhere (on loan) until January at the earliest.
