Manchester United join Forest and Roma in pursuit of 20 y/o Brazilian starlet

Manchester United have become a surprise name in the mix for Santos forward Marcos Leonardo.

That’s according to CalcioMercato.it, which confirms that Roma are in hot pursuit of the forward, but the Red Devils have emerged as unlikely candidates to try and acquire Leonardo’s signature.

As well as that, fellow Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest have also established their interest.

Santos would reportedly demand a fee of €15 million to sanction the 20-year-old’s exit this summer and it is believed that the player prefers a move to the Serie A club despite the approaches coming from England.

The links aren’t overly strong or reliable at this stage, so it’s worth taking the report with a pinch of salt. However, it would make sense given Erik ten Hag’s desire to develop young players into first-team members.

Leonardo comes with a fairly low price tag when you compare it with other young prospect’s across the transfer market, so the club may be mulling over it.

  1. Hmmmm. Why the sudden interest in another young prospect? Or is it simply another case of “Man Utd are interested, and you know how much *they* pay, so increase your bid”?
